Tuesday Tunes - January 2017

Happy Tuesday!  If I really like a song, I could listen to it over and over, for hours. Here are some of the songs I currently have been enjoying (Click the song title to be taken to YouTube to listen to each song)!

Because The Night by Patti Smith

This is what I usually am belting out while in the car :P

Rebel Heart by Madonna

I love this song so much. The melody, the personal lyrics, just everything about it.

Evening In Space By Daphne Guinness

When I listen to Daphne's music, I connect...It's not just the words, but the overall vibe. It speaks to my soul. You'll have to go check out some of her songs, if you want to really understand what I mean.

Ruby Tuesday by Darby Walker

Eighteen year old, Darby Walker sang this on The Voice. She has such a unique sound and it's as if she came out of the 60s and 70s. Darby chose to sing this song in a way that one of my favorite singers, Melanie Safka did...I love when people do covers of songs and truly make it unique.

Last Time by Idina Menzel

I'm a big fan of Idina. She released a new album a few months ago and this was one of the songs on it. It was used in the remake of the 80's movie, Beaches, which recently premiered with Idina Menzel and Nia Long. It can be tricky to like a remake for many reasons, but this one in my opinion was done very well. The cast was superb and this song made me emotional.

Setting The World On Fire by Kenny Chesney featuring Pink

Both of these artists have amazing voices and have done some wonderful duets...This song definitely does not disappoint.

Beautiful by Carole King

After seeing the musical based on her life a couple of weeks ago, this song has been one of my most played. I love to listen to it in the morning. It starts my day off right.

Little Do You Know by Alex and Sierra

Alex and Sierra are a duo who won The X Factor USA. This is such a beautiful song and I really love to sing it.

In G-d's Time by Tehrah

My lovely friend, Tehrah is a singer and songwriter. Currently, I have been listening to this song on repeat...But let's be honest, when don't I have one of her original songs or covers stuck in my head?

Mrs. Robinson by Simon and Garfunkel

This song is a classic and I always end up dancing when this is playing.

What are some of the songs you are currently listening to? Make it a great week!

What I Am Currently Loving - January 2017

Happy Monday! This post is is inspired by Divya of EatTeachBlog. I read one of her recent posts and thought this would be a fun blog to write. Here are some things I'm currently loving.

Beverage of choice

So, I rarely get anything besides filtered water from Starbucks, but sometimes I have to cave...Currently, my favorite is a White Chocolate Peppermint Mocha with almond milk. 😋😋

How To Get Away With Murder

My best friend started me on season three. I didn't honestly think I would like the show, but I'm hooked...Counting down the days until the new episode airs. I really need to start binge watching the first two seasons on Netflix. This show is so suspenseful!

Big Magic : Creative Living Beyond Fear by Elizabeth Gilbert (Author of Eat Pray Love)

I'm doing my best to squeeze in some time to read. I either seem to read a whole book in a day or read a couple of pages a week. I started this book and I'm really enjoying it. It's been insightful and I like the author's honesty.

My glasses

I started wearing glasses when I was seven years old. In ninth grade, I just decided to stop wearing them. A few weeks ago, I got a pair of glasses with an updated prescription and have been wearing them since. The world is so much clearer now! LOL.

Natalie Perfume

This scent makes me so happy. I love the smell of the fragrance and for a little backstory...This perfume was created in honor of Natalie Wood, by her children. The actress, Barbara Stanwyck was known for her signature scent, gardenia. Natalie had been in a movie with her and was sent a bottle of the perfume. It became her scent as well. Fast forward to the present. Natalie's daughters wanted to honor their mother's memory and voila this spin on the perfume she wore was produced.

Beautiful : The Carole King Musical

I've been wanting to see this musical for a while and when I saw it was coming to Detroit, I just had to go! It was even better than I expected it to be. The cast was superb and I loved how it included the history of other music from that time period. My favorite era of music is the 60s and 70s!

Keith Urban's album, Ripcord

Lately I have the songs, The Fighter, Blue Ain't Your Color and Wasted Time from his album, stuck in my head.

Also, if you like Nicole Kidman or Keith Urban, then the video below, might make you smile. 🙏

Rules Don't Apply

I saw this movie a month ago, but it's still on my mind. It takes place in Hollywood in the late fifties and early sixties. A small town girl comes to California to work under contract for Howard Hughes. Warren Beatty wrote, produced, and directed the movie, as well as played the main character, Mr. Hughes. I'm looking forward to watching the film again.

Garden Lite Chocolate Muffins

This is my favorite late night snack. They're made with zucchini and carrots and are quite healthy. They are dairy free, nut free and gluten free!

Desert Essence Natural Tea Tree Oil Facial Cleansing Pads

I love these! They're vegan and have natural ingredients such as tea tree oil and witch hazel.

Flower Print Vera Bradley Tote Bag

I'm very picky about Vera Bradley prints. This flower print however, I really like. I got this as a Hanukkah present and it's perfect to use as an overnight bag.

What are you currently loving? Have a great week!

Best Dressed at the 2017 Golden Globes

Happy Monday! This week's blog post is on the fashion of the Golden Globes. Below, you'll find some of my personal top picks.

I must start with Nicole Kidman who wore Alexander McQueen. Nicole's red carpet fashion is one of my favorites. She always looks so elegant and beautiful and she sure did look stunning last night!

Priyanka Chopra in Ralph Lauren

Felicity Huffman was glowing and I loved this look on her.

Mandy Moore in Naeem Khan. I love the cape!

Gina Rodriguez looked radiant and sparkled in Naeem Khan!

Evan Rachel Wood wore Altuzarra. What made me particularly love her outfit more than I already did, is that Wood made a statement saying that she wanted to remind young girls and women that you aren't required to wear a dress if you do not want to. That being yourself is more important than the dresses you wear.

Emma Stone wore Valentino and I absolutely love that the gown is covered in stars!

Janelle Monae always looks amazing. Her look at the Golden Globes certainly did not disappoint. She wore a custom Armani gown.

Lily Collins looked like a princess in this Zuhair Murad couture dress.

Judith Light wore Balmain and looked ageless!

Keri Russell wore J. Mendel and I am literally in love with this look!

Naomi Campbell wore an Atelier Versace gown with such nice detail!

And lastly...I just have to say that Meryl Streep is truly such an inspiration and I love her so much. <3
Congratulations on being honored with the Cecil B. DeMille award!

Hello 2017...I'm Ready For You!

Happy 2017! - That's going to take some getting used to! :P

Many of us, see the new year as a time to make resolutions. If we are being honest, often, we do not end up following through with them.

Before we can begin focusing on the present, and manifesting for our future, we need to be able to let go of what isn't serving us and reflect.

2016 had many eventful moments. I reflected upon on the past twelve months. I thought about what I want to leave behind and what I want to create during this year.

A great exercise to declutter your mind (from what has been weighing you down), is to make a list of emotions, people, habits, etc that you want to release. Next, list your accomplishments and the positive things that have happened in the past year. You can also put this in the form of a letter.

Now, it's time to to rewrite your story. How do you envision yourself in the upcoming year?
It's time to write yourself a "love" letter. Date this letter one year into the future. Take all you envisioned and act as if it has already occurred. Talk about your achievements and what you were proud of.

Remember to be as clear as possible. By creating clarity in our goals, we send a powerful message out into the universe.

Here are some of the things that I want to be a part of my 2017:

  • Meditate more frequently- I have gotten away from daily meditation and I find that when I meditate, it makes me feel more whole and balanced.

  • Travel to new places - New York, Georgia, and  Alabama are on my list.

  • Graduate from the nutrition program I am enrolled in and begin coaching clients.

  • Continue to evolve spiritually - Follow the path I've been taking toward self-love, discover more about my truth, and immerse myself in spiritual teachings and readings to gain better insight.

  • Increase my daily water consumption, which will help alleviate inflammation.

One of my usual resolutions or goals is to journal more. While, that still may be true, this year I have decided to do something different. I'm going to create a memory jar. Each day, I will  place a note in the jar. These notes may be about accomplishments, gratitude, new experiences, or anything else that I may want to reflect upon.

I'd love to hear about your goals and what you want to accomplish this year.

Each day, is a new beginning, full of endless possibilities. Start creating! I know this year is going to be full of lots wonderful and magical things.
