Halloween 2016 + Some Fran Fine Costume Inspiration

Happy November!

I like to go all out on Halloween and this year, I ended up with three different costumes.

Anyone who knows me, will tell you that Fran Drescher is one of my role models and that her TV show, The Nanny is my favorite sitcom. I've actually already been her character, Fran Fine on two previous Halloweens...This year I was inspired to do it again, but try a more well known look of Fran's.

I know a lot of the designers that were used as wardrobe for the show and found some of Linda Segal's outfits online. This one screamed Fran.

But, I knew I needed something else to make it more recognizable...So, I kept searching and came across this vintage 90's blazer. It ended up only being $12...Score!

Fran's makeup is fairly simple...A light foundation, nude eyeshadow, liquid liner on the lid, red lipstick, and some blush.

Teasing my hair is always interesting, since I have a lot of hair....Tons of hairspray was used!

I helped my mother host a party and had my own small get together with friends the next night. Here are some pictures!

I love artistic costumes like this!

My second costume was actually inspired by Fran as well, and a little bit by Raquel Welch. I'd seen this costume before...it was advertised for July 4th, and when I saw it at the Halloween store, I just had to get it.

And now for some of the food....

Earwax anyone?

The party was 90's/early 2000's themed and so I had chokers, mad libs, milky (gel) pens, and a variety of candy...such as Warheads and Ring Pops.

I always have a puking pumpkin and this year I made "ghosts."

There were a lot of deserts...From pumpkin rolls to cookies...Look how cute these Rice Krispies pumpkin treats that my friend Jayson made are.

I went trick -or- treating for the first time in probably ten years. It was a lot of fun. My friend found me a Cookie Monster onesie. My third costume was definitely "practical" based on the chilly weather. It was super comfy.

My Halloweekend was a full one...How about yours? Did you dress up? What are your goals for November?

Yom Kippur Resolutions 5777/2016

Yom Kippur...Known as the day of atonement. I reflect on the past year and consider it a time to do a spiritual cleansing. I love this holiday; it's not just a time to right wrongs and vow to change, it's a time to become more aware. To learn what is working and what isn't. To start creating new habits. Unlike the typical January 1st resolutions, these are more spiritually based.

Today, I'm looking inward and seeing what doesn't serve me and what I want to create for myself in the upcoming year.

In the year 5777, I will....

  • Let go - Find the silver lining each day

  • Stay present and be more mindful

  • Listen to my intuition

  • Continue on my current path of self discovery

  • Find joy in the little things

  • Reconnect to G-D and source.

In the coming year, I will count my blessings and remember how grateful I am. I will let my light shine and radiate love and positivity.

I pray for peace and compassion as we enter this new year.

Gmar Chatimah Tova! May you be inscribed in the book of life. ❤

What is something you'd like to accomplish before 2016 is over? We've still got 81 days to go!

Fall Fashion Finds

Happy Monday (and L'Shana Tova...a happy new year to those who celebrate).

Fall is one of my favorite times of year. I especially love putting together cute outfits for the season.

Here are some of my fall fashion finds.
(Towards the bottom of this post, you will find pictures you can click for more information about each item).

Bat Print Long Sleeve Pullover

Who doesn't love a comfy sweater when it starts to get chilly? Pullovers/Sweaters by Wildfox are extremely soft and long lasting. Best part? It's on sale and perfect for Halloween time.

Bare Minimum Sweater Dress

Sweater dresses are easy to dress up or down and I happen to love this one from Nasty Gal because of the cutout shoulders.

Utility Vest

Time to start layering with this stylish cargo vest!

Colorblock Moto Jacket

I'm in love with this statement piece. It definitely will dress up any outfit. I may just have to get it for myself!

Halloween Bats Stars and Moon Tights

I had to throw another Halloween item in here! I've bought tights from Asos before and they are my go to place to find fun and unique designs and patterns.

Calf Hi 2-Layer Fringe Boot

Fringe boots always catch my eye, and I just adore this color! Besides grey, they come in black and dusty brown.

I'd Rather Be In Stars Hollow

Since the Netflix Gilmore Girls revival is sooo soon (Aka November 25th), here is a fun design I created. It's on Redbubble, so you can order it as a sticker, on a coffee mug, a shirt, etc!

You can click here to have a look :)

Question of the week: Any Gilmore Girls fans out there?
